Thank You Phoenix International Raceway

A couple of weeks ago we got a great opportunity. Our partners at Phoenix International Raceway had one last backstretch available and offered it to us. The only caveat, it had to be produced and shipped by the next day.

Luckily we are used to producing high-quality, large-format graphics for our partners. Quickly we created a Weaver Media inspired backstretch. It was produced and shipped in a single day and arrived at PIR in plenty of time for the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races—allowing us some great TV exposure along the way. We'd like to thank Liz Thomas and Brett Adams for their hard work at the track for making this happen.

A nice shot of the finished product.

Weaver Media Backstretch at Phoenix International Raceway

We post this not to pat ourselves on the back (although we are doing that), but to show that even on a tight time line we're happy to get a job produced for you. If you ever have any questions, please contact us and we'll talk you through the entire process.

NASCAR Goes Green—So Do We

Weaver Media logo transformed into recycling icon

A couple weeks ago, we shared this article from bohemian.com from our Facebook account. The article describes some of the methods that NASCAR is using to go green. They covered sheep mowing the lawns; aluminum, plastic and tire recycling efforts; as well as oil re-refinement.

But, coming from a signage background, we couldn't help but notice there was something missing. PVC, aka polyvinyl chloride. PVC is the polymer that makes vinyl banners possible. However, it rarely recycled because regrinding and recompounding the resin is very costly versus using unrecycled resin. This leads to large amounts of vinyl being discarded into landfills across the country each year. This concerns us greatly because vinyl grandstand, trackside and backstretch banners make up a good deal of our work for our partner tracks.

However over the last couple of years, new earth-friendly materials have become available. One is a material we believe has great opportunities in the motorsports arena. It's constructed of woven polyethylene plastic and is 100% recyclable (which we're more than happy to help coordinate). But that's just scratching the surface.

A few fast facts on how this material stacks up against standard 13oz vinyl.

One 20' x 60' trackside banner...
• Uses 1,656,548 less BTU units to produce (or about 486 Kw hours)
• Saves 13 gallons of gasoline (that would get the average sedan 294 miles)
• Eliminates 1,308 square feet of landfill needs (equal to about 986 20oz bottles)

And that's just for one banner.

Plus, this earth-friendly material is about 80% lighter than standard 13oz vinyl banners. That decrease in weight may translate to reduced shipping costs and easier installations. Best of all, these products are about the same price as standard front lit vinyl.

Outdoor companies have been testing, and using this material for a couple of years and we're excited to be able to offer them to the NASCAR arena.

If you're looking to go green with your racing efforts. Give us a call at the office. We'd be happy to discuss these exciting new options with you.

Weaver Media Online 2.0

It's been another exciting week here at Weaver Media.

This weekend, the first race of the year comes back to MIS. The new Media Center should really draw attention. We felt honored that they asked us to add some flavor to the walls with these really cool wall murals that show off some Michigan flavor. We were able to take their ideas and create these images which really highlight some of the great scenery and history that our state has to offer.

While Sean and Mark are down at the track with our installers, we've taken the time to begin the testing and debugging of the new Weaver Media Online.

Anyone who has used our current system knows it's a great tool for placing, monitoring and approving orders. But our vision for the system has always been a bit different. It's always been our goal to really integrate this system to our partners' way of doing business—to turn it into a fully developed asset management system. That's why we'll soon be unveiling Weaver Media Online 2.0.

Why are we so excited about this new version? Let us explain.
(Please note all the information in these images is for testing purposes only.)

New Design
The first thing you'll notice is the cleaner, more user-friendly, interface. We've rethought and reworked the navigation to be more intuitive.

Enhanced Order Management
Finding exactly where an order is at has never been easier. Search by the order number, job title, sponsor or keyword and find exactly what your looking for.

Or just leave everything as-is and hit search to get a full report of every order with the job's status.

Easily Searchable Inventory
From traditional trackside and grandstand signage to specific inventory that Weaver Media has created, it's all right here in an easy to follow list. And to make it even easier to remember what a piece is, we can add past images to each item.

Detailed Spending Reports
Quickly see where, and how your budget was spent. And with one click, download everything to Excel for reference.

These features just scratch the surface of what's to come. Check back in the coming weeks for more feature teasers, and Weaver Media Online tutorials.
